Little Stints

Juvenile Curlew Sandpiper - think this is a different bird to yesterday's.

Don't know what's going on at the moment. Exmouth Beach is actually attracting waders! It appears yesterday was not just a fluke. Highlight was 2 juvenile Little Stints. I can only actually remember ever seeing one in Exmouth before, but I'll have to check back through my old records. As well as the Stints there was 1 juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, about 200 Ringed Plovers and a similar number of Dunlin. There seemed to be fewer Sanderlings than yesterday but counting was again extremely difficult as the flock was continually spooked and split in to smaller groups. All my photographs were taken from the pavement as I didn't want to disturb the birds. The downside of that of course is that the quality of them is terrible, but that's part and parcel for this blog! As I was watching the waders, 36 Pale-bellied Brent Geese flew over in formation towards Orcombe Point. I'd earlier been watching them off Mudbank, along with 5 Knot, 7 Bar-tailed Godwits and 2 Mediterranean Gulls.

Part of this morning's flock.

Enduring repeated disturbance, but Exmouth Beach isn't a nature reserve so you can't stop people doing what people do.
